French retailer Carrefour plans to negotiate a minority stake in the start-up Cajoo, a French specialist in the delivery of daily shopping in less than 15 minutes.
Carrefour is thus the first French retailer to join forces with a player in "quick-commerce", a trend that was born during the recession and is now firmly established in consumers' habits. Express delivery start-ups are multiplying in France.
Carrefour is therefore focusing on delivery in order to maintain its leadership. Carrefour will therefore help Cajoo in its development while allowing the retailer to be present on this niche, allowing Carrefour to develop e-commerce.
Carrefour had been one of the first to offer express delivery as well as e-commerce solutions in city centers, where it launched and developed the pedestrian drive.
The exclusive industrial partnership will include supply and operational logistics in Cajoo's darkstores. Founded in February 2021, Cajoo is the pioneer in the French "quick-commerce" market.
Already present in 10 cities in France, the start-up has over 100,000 users. Thanks to its darkstores, pickers and salaried delivery staff, Cajoo now delivers nearly 2,000 food and non-food products in less than 15 minutes, over wide time slots.
