Amadou DIALLO : CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Middle East & Africa

I was born in born in the capital of Senegal, Dakar, as the oldest of nine children. At a young age, my father opened a shoe store – and that’s where I started learning about sales at the tender age of six.

I was just 12 years old when my father put me in charge of the store while travelling the country to grow the business. And, of course, I was still expected to do well in school.

After high school, I went to Paris to attend a “Grande École”, but I quickly decided that it wasn’t for me. Instead, I decided to go to London.

I learned English and earned a spot with a scholarship for my studies – although I was still working full-time night shifts at a hotel to cover my living expenses. I was then fortunate to be accepted for an MBA in the UK directly after earning my bachelor’s degree due to my work experience.
